Diego Barrientos was born in Guatemala City, Guatemala and grew up in California's San Joaquin Valley. After high school he joined the U.S. army and was deployed to the Iraq War.
Barrientos (b. 1987, Guatemala City, Guatemala) received his MFA in fine art from the California Institute of the Arts in 2019 and a BA in animation from California State University, Northridge in 2016. Barrientos has exhibited work at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, CA (2018), Other Places Art Fair, San Pedro, CA (2019), Annenberg Community Beach House, Santa Monica, CA (2019), New Wright Gallery, Los Angeles, CA (2019), and Nick Kochornswasdi Gallery, Los Angeles, CA (2019). He currently lives and works in Los angeles as a painter, fiction writer, music producer, and multi-instrumentalist.
